Limited Edition Persol Steve McQueen 714SM - Light Havana
Persol is best known for its exceptional quality and Italian craftsmanship. Handmade in Lauriano Italy, the Persol brand focuses on the highest quality materials, from crystal lenses to exclusive acetate frames. Persol was established in 1917 by Giuseppe Ratti and originally provisioned for pilots and sports drivers, who needed comfort and protection. Persol gained iconic pop culture status in the 1970s and 1980s when celebrities such as Steve McQueen, Robert De Niro, and Jack Nicholson began to wear the brand.
Introduced in the 1960s as a folding version of the 649 models, the 714 were the first-ever folding glasses. This model requires ten additional manufacturing steps compared to the standard ones. 714 glasses owe their fame to Steve McQueen, who wore them in the film The Thomas Crown Affair and can be seen favoring the sunglasses frequently in his personal life offset and on the racetrack. The Persol 714SM was created by Persol to pay tribute to the 714’s history and to Steve McQueen "The King Of Cool" himself who wore the Persol 714.
