1974 Rolex Daytona 6265 "Big Eye" ROC Silver Dial
In the year 1969, Rolex introduced references 6263 and 6265, replacing the scarcely produced Oyster Cosmograph reference 6240. The 6263 and 6265 references were fitted with the Oyster chronograph screw down pushers ensuring water resistance up to 50 meters
Whats a "Big Eye"?
The dial layout of some early 6263 and 6265 references possess subdials that are visibly larger than those found on most other examples of the 6263 and 6265 references. The reason that these are larger then the more common dial variants is most likely due to these dials being part of the test dials. Additionally, it is not uncommon for "Big Eye" Daytona dials to be missing the word "Daytona". As a result of the larger subdials, the Rolex Cosmograph collecting community has given this dial variant the nickname the "Big Eye"
We love the vintage Cosmograph range of due to the fact that they have a high level of contrast which is something the modern Rolex Daytona range of timepieces has lost due to the completely monochromatic look of the dials found on today modern reference range.

CASE & BRACELET
The case appears to have been previously polished but retains nice and even lugs. The screw down crown and Mk 2 pushers are original to the piece. The bezel is in absolutely stunning condition and shows very minimal wear. The Rolex Oyster 78350 bracelet has some stretch and comes with12 original links which retain era correct 357 end pieces. the coronet on the clasp is worn on the clasp but is visible.
DIAL & HANDS
The excellent silver Rolex Oyster Cosmograph "RCO" dial with black sub-dials is in excellent condition. The text within the subdials is silver whereas the text on teh dial is black making this a bit more uncommon. The trapezoidal stick markers are free of any corrosion and add to the specific examples charming and era-specific look and feel. The tritium filled hands remain intact and show no degradation, all of the lume dots are intact and have taken on a wonderful golden patina.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was just completely overhauled and is running at COSC spec.
