Brass Frames, Celluloid, Mineral Glass Lens

Brass frames, Green Tint Lens, Celluloid Bridge Bar & Nose Pieces

Aviator sunglasses were originally designed for the U.S. military in the 1930's in an effort to help flyers deal with the sun while operating aircraft in flight. The original design like the example we are offering here came with a G-15 tempered mineral glass lens configuration and flexible cable hook temples that hook behind the ears for secure fitment.

This specific example of vintage aviator glasses dates to the late 1930's and are in fully restored condition. The glasses come complete with the original pressed paper case and original lifetime warranty paper from Orba-Lite that was based in Providence RI, USA.  These aviators are built like a tank, the frames are made from solid brass and the green lenses are made out of G-15 mineral glass and free from any blemishes or scratches. The bridge bar and nose pieces are made of celluloid which is era correct for this rare and always classic pair of aviator sunglasses.
