The satin grey “pie-pan” dials with white text, also known as “Ghost” dials, are among the most sought-after and highly celebrated dial variants within the 4-digit Datejust reference range. The “Ghost” dial derives its nickname from the white text that seamlessly disappears and reappears depending on the watch's angle. This optical effect gives these Datejust a truly unique appearance while on wrist that oozes with “if you know you know” style.

The white gold fluted bezel is crisp and unpolished showing only subtle signs of use and remains in overall exceptional condition. The Rolex rolled-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end pieces retains 17 links that show light stretch and will fit up to a 6 3/4-inch wrist. Additional links can be purchased upon request.

DIAL & HANDS

The stunning and very well-preserved "pie-pan" satin grey "Ghost" Dial exhibits gentle age around its minute track, however, it is near invisible to the naked eye. Overall the dial is in excellent condition. The dial is a pale grey coloration that blends with the white text at certain angles which creates the sought-after ghost effect. The tritium lume plots have achieved a creamy patina and all remain intact, though the 6 o'clock lume plot shows light degradation when inspected with U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand displays some lume loss and remains stable, the hour hand is fully intact. The metallic date wheel is original with open 6's and 9's.
