Either way, the Seiko 6139-6000 was indisputably the first automatic chronograph available for purchase in May of 1969 exclusively to the Japanese market. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Seiko refs. 6139 with yellow dials and an inner yellow rotating ring are commonly nicknamed the “Pogue” in homage to NASA Astronaut Col. Pogue, who wore his personal Seiko 6139-6002 during the NASA Skylab 4 mission in 1974, subsequently making Seiko the first automatic chronograph to be used in space. Pogue purchased the Seiko chronograph from a PX for $71 in 1972 to use during his flight training, as NASA Astronauts were not issued their Omega Speedmasters until much closer to the launch dates. The original Seiko \"H-Link\" stainless steel bracelet retains 12 links that show minimal stretch and will fit up to a 7.75-inch wrist.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDIAL \u0026amp; HANDS\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe exceptional metallic blue dial is in incredible condition, showing true depth of color and no notable elements of age. The rotating inner ring has faded to a beautiful powder blue coloration while its silver printing remains visible. The lume plots on the dial and within the hands all remain fully intact when inspected under UV light, and feature a matching ivory color, though the hands exhibit some dark spots, which is normal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eACCESSORIES \u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNone. The watch is running and functioning correctly, though the service history is unknown.
