Heuer

1950s Heuer Chronograph "Gold Plated"

Heuer is a brand that needs absolutely no introduction, and their vintage chronographs are especially well-regarded by collectors and enthusiasts. Heuer effectively perfected the modern chronograph, watches that were purpose-built for auto racing, and other extreme applications that required hyper-accurate timekeeping.

This ‘50s era chronograph, while not as instantly recognizable as, say, a Carrera, Monaco, or Autavia, still carries plenty of that Heuer panache. The gold-plated case and aged yellow dial pair so beautifully with the blued hands and the unique 12 o’clock / 6 o’clock sub-dial setup. It’s a great way to get a piece from arguably the finest chronograph makers in horological history without paying the premium commanded by some of its more famous siblings.

The gold-plated case is in excellent condition with clean and full lugs, showing light signs of use. The case retains its original onion-style crown and rectangular pushers. The silver case back is clean with no markings. The watch will be supplied on a 2pc black leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The yellow dial appears to be slightly tropical as the aging throughout the dial has developed a unique green patina. The dial features a telemeter track on the outer edge, which is impressively legible and in good shape. All the numerals and lettering are black and perfectly legible. The hour, minute, and seconds hands are all blued steel, adding a sophisticated, uniquely vintage look that matches the overall feel and presence of this piece. The subdials at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions have blued steel hands, respectively, with the upper sub-dial, also featuring the Heuer brand logo.
