Tropical 1957 Tudor Oyster (Ref. 7934) "Big Rose"
The Rolex/Tudor relationship dates back to 1926 when Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex SA, wanted to create a more affordable wristwatch alternative that still maintained a high quality of craftsmanship. Tudor manufactured wristwatches adjacent to Rolex for many years, which featured more affordable non-inhouse Swiss movements, whilst still utilizing Rolex's case designs and manufacturing processes. Even though Tudor shares a lot of similarities with its famous older brother, Tudor's designs tended to differentiate from the Rolex formula to make for some uniquely cool timepieces that stand on their own as true collector's pieces. One of those pieces is the aptly named "Big Rose" we have here.

CASE & BRACELET
This gorgeous Tudor 7934 features a 34 millimeter stainless steel Oyster case. It has a screw down crown, screw down caseback and no nonsense. It's clean, robust and time tested. The watch is worn on a beautiful canvas, single pass NATO strap.
DIAL & HANDS
While normally the inclusion of the famous "Big Rose" would be the first thing to mention when discussing the dial of the 7934, in fact this time it has to simply be the dial itself. 65 years have given it the gift of a truly mind boggling tropical finish, with remarkably even aging throughout. The patina even darkens at the edge of the dial is ever so slightly lightens up as it moves towards the center. Not even the steel bullet shaped hour markers, or as it were the "Big Rose", have escaped the tropical touch.
