Wittnauer

1960s Wittnauer Professional Chronograph (Ref. 235T)

$ 4,250

While Wittnauer certainly isn’t one of the commonly known watch brands, it certainly has the history to rival just about any out there. Founded in 1885 in New York by Swiss immigrant Albert Wittnauer, the eponymous company set out to craft timepieces that were designed for exploration and adventure, especially in aviation and sea navigation. In fact, Neil Armstrong wore a Wittnauer for the Gemini 8 mission.

This Wittnauer Chronograph ref. 235T from the 1960s contains many of the key elements you would want in a mid-century chronograph and is a beautiful example of the ingenuity and imagination of the company.

The white dial has aged to a warm ivory color, with the blue tachymeter and red telemeter at the outer edge of the dial adding to the character and charm of this timepiece.
