1960 Rolex Oyster-Perpetual 14k YG (Ref. 1002) Silver Dial W/ Box & Papers
While Rolex began using self-winding movements in the early 1930s, it wasn't until 1950 that it was given a proper name with the introduction of the Oyster-Perpetual. Many models in the Rolex catalog would go on to wear the names Oyster and/or Perpetual on their dials.
The tenured model has been a mainstay within the Rolex catalog since its introduction and remains as one of the most sought-after offerings. Vintage variants perfectly blend simplicity with sophistication and often feature unique details not seen in other models. Whether you're a seasoned collector or looking for your first entry point into vintage watches, the Rolex Oyster-Perpetual is always a worthy addition to any collection.
This gorgeous ref. 1002 from 1960 is an especially eye-catching offering, featuring a solid 14k yellow gold case, sophistcated silver dial, and its orignal box and papers. This would make a great start for a new vintage collector, or be a great dress watch addition to an expanding collection.
