Tropical 1963 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) Gilt Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of true quality and functional design. The Datejust’s exemplary style makes it an extremely versatile choice, worn just as easily with a suit as with jeans and a t-shirt. The Datejust would make a wonderful starting point for a new vintage collector and is always a great addition to an expanding collection.
The early Rolex Datejust is a watch grounded in sophisticated simplicity, with all the hallmarks of an elevated timepiece while retaining the functionality we've come to expect from Rolex. The glossy gilt dial offers a classy and artisanal aesthetic that is defined by its depth in appearance, centered around the white gold fluted bezel, and classic Oyster case. Any Rolex Datejust would make for an exceptional addition, however for the more discerning collector, the early gilt dial examples rain amongst the most desired within the Datejust hierarchy.
