IWC Steel Calatrava Cal. 83 W/ Articulated Lugs

The movement that transitioned IWC from pocket watches to wristwatches, the Cal. 83 is the lesser known but highly influential manual wind IWC in-house movement that debuted in 1939. Much like the more documented Cal. 89, the Cal. 83 was used in dress pieces and an incabloc was created for the military Mark X watch.

This fascinating Cal. 83 model features an oversized case with elongated lugs that articulate for a more ergonomic fit around the wrist, an unconventional and attractive design that would only come from this era. Additionally, the silver dial with black Breguet numerals is almost just as impressive as the case!
