1966 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513) GILT Dial W/ Papers
The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. Simple and sophisticated, yet also rugged, the 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch. The absence of the date function seen on other Submariner models (Ref. 1680) contributes to the clean look of this archetypal style. First introduced in 1962, Rolex produced the reference until 1989.
The depth rating began appearing on Submariner dials in late 1955 and was standard on all models by 1956. Early depth ratings were printed with the meters first. This continued until around 1969 when Rolex made the switch to a feet first depth rating, reportedly to appeal to the expanding US market.

CASE & BRACELET
The strong case has been lightly polished in the past and retains slight chamfers down the lugs with honest signs of use. The "fat font" bezel insert has taken on a subtle grey faded that shows almost no signs on use, the bezel retains its pearl at the 12 o'clock position however it no longer contains lume. The crown was replaced with a trip-lock crown at some point. The original Rolex Oyster-Rivet bracelet with 80 end pieces remain in remarkable condition, retaining 11 links and showing only very mild stretch from previous use.
DIAL & HANDS
The black gilt dial is simply stunning, the dial itself retains a strong glossy-mirror like finish with a light speckled patina of brown dots that is consistent throughout the dial. There is some minor degradation to the lacquer at the 6 o'clock position. The tritium lume plots have taken on a rich golden coloration which accent the gilt text nicely, under U.V. light inspection all of the lume plots remain intact however there is some light degradation that is visible on some of the lume plots. The original hands have been professionally restored with tritium to match the dial.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes with its original Rolex guarantee paper, serialized hangtag(serial portion has separated), cigarette card, and Rolex wallet. Watch is running and keeping time, previous service history is unknown.
