Movado
1940s Movado Triple Calendar (Ref. 14823)
Movado may just be the perfect example of the joy of vintage watches in relation to their modern counterparts. In the mid-century, Movado competed with the likes of Rolex and Patek Philippe for design accolades and dollars, establishing themselves as a premium manufacturer. One whose influence is still very much felt today.
This deceptively intricate 1940s triple calendar is a prime piece of that history, one that effortlessly combines the aesthetics of a field watch with the functionality of tracking the day, date, and month. It's a conversation piece and a time capsule in one incredibly handsome package.

CASE & BRACELET
The stainless steel case is stunning featuring triangular, art deco-style lugs that add to the watch's overall size. The case has been polished in the past but the complex geometry remains intact. The unsigned crown is believed to remain original to the watch. The case back is crisp and clean. The watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.
DIAL & HANDS
The original dial has aged to a warm hue and features radium lumed Arabic numerals for the hour markers. The lume on the dial features a dark tan color, under U.V. light inspection only nominal degradation is present in a few lume plots. The outside of the dial features the date markers, with the day and month calendar wheels sitting at 9 and 3 o'clock, respectively. The radium lume hour and minute hands have been professionally restored to match the lume on the dial, and a red sweep seconds hand adds a pop of color.
