1943 Rolex Perpetual Chronometer 18K RG (Ref. 4134) "Oversized"
Rolex in the 1940s was a far different watchmaker than it is today, truthfully, it wasn't until the 1950s that we started to see the foundation of Rolex as a modern company starting to form. Regardless, Rolex has always been at the forefront of innovation and design, especially in the first half of the 20th century with the invention of the waterproof watch and the advancement of the automatic movement through the creation of the Perpetual Winding System, which involves a center oscillating weight.
This Rolex Perpetual Chronometre ref. 4134 is massive for its era, competing with modern watch sizes, but with the grace and elegance of 1940s watchmaking. The 18K rose gold case features beautiful teardrop lugs and houses the chronometer-rated Cal. 9 3/4 Perpetual Movement. The ref. 4134 is often noted as being one of the only automatic Rolex watches with a snap-on case back and was produced in very limited quantities between 1942 and 1947.

CASE & BRACELET
The 18K rose gold case is in beautifully preserved condition, showing gentle elements of previous polishing and honest signs of use while retaining the full integrity of the intended design from the 1940s. The case retains its original rose gold nipple crown. The case back retains all of its original factory engravings in deep and crisp condition. The watch comes supplied on a later than the watch but vintage Rolex 2pc brown crocodile leather strap with an 18K RG Rolex tang buckle.
DIAL & HANDS
The original pink dial coordinates with the case beautifully, making the watch appear even larger due to the consistent color palette throughout. The dial is in exceptional vintage condition, especially for a non-waterproof watch from the 1940s, and exhibits gentle, uniform aging throughout in the form of speckling, however, no notable damage is present. The rose gold hands, including the sub-seconds hand, remain original to the watch and in excellent condition, with only light wear present.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time accurately, The watch will come with a 1-year warranty of accurate timekeeping.
