Omega
Tropical 1944 Omega Field Watch (Ref. 2179/3) Cal. 30T2
The cal. 30T2 is a time-only manual wind movement that Omega created in 1939, and became a large benefactor for building Omega's early reputation of making accurate and quality timepieces. The cal. 30T2 is essentially a robust but simple base movement that is very versatile in its adaptability, in fact, variations of the cal. 30T2 was produced until 1963. This legendary movement wasn't only for civilian use either, as the British military issued a massive contract with Omega to produce chronometer-rated timepieces for their soldiers that all housed a modified cal. 30T2 movement.

CASE & BRACELET
The well-preserved stainless steel case has been gently polished but shows minimal signs of wear. The case retains its original unsigned crown. The case back is in fantastic condition with minimal wear. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.
DIAL & HANDS
The original Military-style dial is in exceptional condition and has achieved a deep golden "tropical" patina evenly throughout. The dial exhibits nominal distressing that's expected for a 1940s tool watch. The wrapping radium lumed numerals have taken on a spotted grey and tan color and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The pencil-style hands are original to the watch, under UV light inspection the hour hand was professionally restored with radium at some point and shows a lighter patina than the rest of the dial, the minute hand retains its original radium lume and exhibits no degradation. The center blued-steel sweeping seconds hand contrasts beautifully with the cream dial to complete the look.
ACCESSORIES
