*Unpolished* Tropical 1946 Longines Flyback Chronograph 'Cal. 13ZN' (Ref. 4994) "Presented From The Middle Atlantic Motorcycle Dealers Association" W/ Extract From The Archive

Whether it's a chronograph, diving watch, or a simple dress model, a Longines wristwatch never seems to disappoint. Longines' history is sprawling with an array of beautiful and functional watches, including military-issued timepieces, unique dress watches, and beautiful sports watches.

The Longines' legendary 13ZN movement was created in 1936, making it the very first flyback chronograph wristwatch movement ever produced, and is renowned as one of the best movements ever created. Needless to say, the 13ZN isn't just a must-have for any die-hard Longines collector but is horological royalty that paved the way for generations of ingenuity and experimentation of what was possible within the limited capacity of a wristwatch.

This particularly well-preserved and attractive example was presented to the original owner, William H Murray, by the Middle Atlantic Motorcycle Dealers Association, a Pennsylvania-based organization active from the late 1930s through the 1960s. The association was a driving force in promoting motorcycling and defending riders’ rights, actively opposing anti-motorcycle legislation and fostering the sport’s growth. It played a prominent role in organizing the legendary AMA national races at Langhorne Speedway, a cornerstone event in American motorcycling history. Led by figures such as Charles “Red” Wolverton and Lloyd Laugerman, the association’s influence was felt throughout the mid-century golden era of the sport
