Movado

1960s Movado Super Sub Sea (Ref. 206-705-504)

Movado released water-resistant wristwatches in the mid-1930s, by the early 1960s Movado was producing dive watches to contend with the era's greater-known offerings from names like Rolex, Omega, Heuer & Tudor. The Super Sub Sea is one of the most desirable Movado dive watches to come from the brand. During this era, Movado and Zenith worked closely together to introduce innovative designs and advancement to the watch world.

This specific Movado features the impressive 17 jewel Zenith 146-HP movement, which is also used in the Zenith Super Sub Sea Ref. A3736 as well as a variety of other chronographs from this era. This was the last manual wind movement caliber by Zenith-Movado before being superseded by the automatic El Primero movement.

The Movado Sub Sea Chronographs are the most sought after in the vintage Movado dive watch line-up. Similar to the design of a super compressor, this particular reference features the very rare and stunning orange inner rotating bezel. This watch also includes it's original and unique "ladder-link" Movado bracelet which have become extremely rare accessories for these early diving models.
