1963 Tudor Submariner (Ref. 7928) PCG "Gilt Chapter Ring Dial"
The Tudor Submariner Ref. 7928 was first introduced in 1960. The Ref. 7928 is like the little brother to the Rolex 5513/5512 references as they share many of the same exact parts and similar design elements. Interestingly, the Rolex Submariner and the Tudor Submariner were actually developed at the same time and launched just a few months apart from each other. The Tudor Submariner Ref 7928 is just as handsome as the big brother Rolex 5512/5513 references but possess a unique charm and feeling that is distinctly Tudor!
This early example ref. 7928 possesses everything we love about vintage Tudor Submariners. From the gilt chapter ring rose dial, to the pointed crown guard case. This would make a great addition to a growing collection as it retains the classic and timeless look of the Submariner while being unique and eye-catching.
|Glossy Gilt "Chapter Ring"
|Antique Calfskin Watch Strap (Fawn)
The excellent pointed crown guard case has been previously polished but retains thick lugs showing some wear. The bezel insert is a later service replacement and is missing its pearl. The case retains it's original Rolex signed twin lock crown. The case back is stamped II.63.
The beautiful gilt chapter ring dial with silver text has taken on a unique spotted patina throughout the dial. The original tritium lume has taken on an interesting dark orange/ light yellow patina. The lume remains intact, showing some degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands have taken on a gray coloration, under U.V. light inspection the minute and sweep seconds hand show as fully intact, the mercedes hour hand exhibits light cracking in the lume.
None. The watch was just serviced and running at spec, previous service history is unknown.
