1966 Rolex GMT-Master (Ref. 1675) Gilt Dial W/ Box, Double Punched Papers, & Hangtags
The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile. In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed for Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from PanAm to create a technical pilots watch which indicated two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights. The original Rolex GMT Master has a fourth 24-hour hand directly displaying the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand enabled the crews to set the watch to GMT or another time zone, and using the rotatable 24-hour scale bezel, set the correct offset timing thus displaying a second-time zone on the 24-hour scale.
This true time capsule set comes fully packed with the original accessories of the watch and the condition of the watch itself is nothing short of stellar. The glossy gilt dial retains a mirror-like finish with matching creamy-colored lume throughout the dial and hands. The "Pepsi" bezel has taken on perfect fade across the red and blue colors and the original riveted bracelet is in tight--ready to wear condition.

CASE & BRACELET
The extremely sharp case has received a recent expert restoration to show extremely crisp, thick, and symmetrical lugs that show no real signs of use. The original "fat font" red back "Pepsi" bezel insert has achieved a beautiful fade and is in excellent overall condition, with minimal signs of previous use shown. The case back is also in pristine condition. The original Rolex 7206 Oyster riveted bracelet with 58 end pieces is stamped 1/65 and retains 11 links that show virtually no stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original glossy gilt black dial is in truly well-preserved and remarkable condition, the glossy finish retains a deep mirror-like finish with no spider cracking evident. The only elements of age on the dial are nominal in nature and invisible to the naked eye. The tritium lume plots have a charming creamy-yellow coloration and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial patina perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the hour hand displays some superficial cracking that isn't actual degradation and remains stable, the second's and minute hands are fully intact. The metallic date wheel is original with "closed" 6's and 9's which is appropriate for the date range of the watch.

The watch comes as a complete set, including its original box, serial-punched chronometer certificate, Rolex guarantee paper, serialized hangtag, GMT-Master pamphlet, green Rolex document holder, and the red chronometer seal hangtag.
