1969 Rolex Air-King (Ref. 5500) "Rare Metalic Silver Dial"

Sometimes it's the smallest details that make the biggest difference. This is one of the coolest and most unique Rolex Air-King Ref 5500 series that we have ever seen. The dial color is a rare and seldom seen matte and metallic silver that is downright stunning.  The same dial texture can be seen on Paul Newman Daytona references. We always say its about the details, some of the other unique elements that make this specific example rare outside of the dial finish are that the top of the markers is inlaid with black enamel as opposed to having the tops of the markers high polished as can be seen in other examples from the same era. Additionally, the SWISS underneath the 6 o'clock markers is known as Wide Boy Hoover – the extra wide T SWISS T which is also commonly seen on the dials of pump pusher Newmans
