1970 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) Black "Confetti" Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. This classic dress watch has been produced by the Swiss luxury watchmaker since 1945 and has remained a timeless classic that is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust was designed for everyday wear, and its sleek and elegant design makes it one of the most universally loved watches for both men and women.
The multi-colored "confetti" dials are coveted among collectors, not only for the sheer rarity of these dials but also for the subtle yet vibrant details that are truly unique amongst Rolex dials as a whole. The term "confetti" is in reference to the compilation of individual colors that make up the single base color of the dial, creating a colorful and speckled dial appearance when observed up close.

CASE & BRACELET
The excellent case retains very thick and symmetrical lugs that exhibit light wear from use with minimal signs of previous polishing. The white gold fluted bezel is wonderfully crisp, showing light evidence of previous polishing and almost no signs of previous use. The Rolex 6251H rolled-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end pieces dates to 1968 and is era-correct for the watch, the bracelet retains 20 links that show normal stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The very well-preserved and rare matte black "confetti" dial is in great condition, showing no damage with virtually no age present. The "confetti" of the matte black dial texture is comprised of red, green, and blue speckling. The tritium lume plots have taken on a wonderful creamy patina, under UV light inspection some of the lume plots show minor degradation, though the 11 o'clock plot is the only one with significant degradation. The hands are OEM Rolex luminova service units, however, they perfectly resemble the white enamel hands that would be commonly seen in this dial variation. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
