1970 Rolex GMT-Master (Ref. 1675) Mk. I "Long E" W/ Hangtag & Booklets
The Rolex GMT is the jet-setting icon of the Rolex sports watch family. Like the Rolex Submariner, the Rolex GMT is sophisticated, rugged, and versatile. In 1954 Pan Am started using the newly designed Boeing 707 which allowed for Pan Am to fly transcontinentally and is said to have started the commercially available jet age. In the same year, Rolex received a request from PanAm to create a technical pilot's watch which indicated two time zones simultaneously that could be issued by the airline to their crews on long-haul transcontinental international flights. The original Rolex GMT Master has a fourth 24-hour hand directly displaying the same time zone as the standard 12-hour hand but on a 24-hour scale. This GMT hand enabled the crews to set the watch to GMT or another time zone, and, using the rotatable 24-hour scale bezel, set to the correct offset thus displaying a second-time-zone on the 24-hour scale.

CASE & BRACELET
The excellent case shows light signs of use and has been lightly polished in the past to retain strong chamfers and crown guards. The original redback "Pepsi" bezel insert with "fat font" numerals has beautifully faded and retains vibrant blue and red colorations. The inside of the case back is stamped II.70. The original Rolex 7836 folded-link Oyster bracelet with 280 end pieces retains 11 links, is stamped 1/71, and exhibits light stretch from use.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black Mark I "Long E" dial has a breathtaking appearance and is in exceptional condition. The tritium lume plots have aged to a vibrant yellow coloration and exhibit no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial lume's vibrant yellow patina and show no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The closed 6 and 9 date wheel is era correct for this watch.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes with its original serialized hangtag, booklets, and cardholder which also has the watched serial number attached. Watch is functioning and running perfectly, previous service history is unknown.
