1979 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 1680)
The Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1969, the ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a ref. 1680 which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering, manufactured from 1969-1975. This watch is an example of what is referred to as the "White Dial." It is the first ref. 1680 with the word "Submariner" in white lettering.
This specific piece would make a versatile daily driver in a casual setting or would look great paired with a suit. The ref. 1680 is an all-around wonderful sport watch, and would make a nice addition to an existing collection, or would be a unique stand-alone vintage piece.

The excellent case retains very thick and symmetrical lugs, it appears the case may have only been lightly polished once in the past as the factory chamfers are still present. The bezel insert is an early OEM replacement with a tritium pearl that matches the dial perfectly. The Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end pieces retains 11 links that show almost no stretch and will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.
The matte black dial is in exceptional original condition, displaying no signs of age or blemished. The tritium lume plots have taken on a lovely light yellow coloration and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands have an "ombre" patina with a darker lume color at the center of the hand stack that gradually lightens toward the ends, achieving a unique look that fits the aesthetic of the watch. The hands show no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's, and the "26" is closed which is correct for this era.
None. The watch is keeping time, backed by our 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
