The Rolex Day-Date is one of the most iconic and beautiful watches in the Rolex catalog. The Rolex Day-Date earned the nickname "President" after it was rumored President Dwight Eisenhower wore one, but Eisenhower actually wore a Rolex 18K yellow gold Oyster-Perpetual Datejust which Rolex gifted to him in 1953. However, the nickname "President" is quite fitting for the Day-Date as Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Ford, Reagan, Nixon, and Roosevelt, all wore the Rolex Day-Date. Apart from its executive affiliation, the Day-Date is a symbol of status and luxury, only produced in highly refined precious metals including 18K yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and also platinum, featuring both the day and date complications within the movement.
In 1977 Rolex updated the iconic Day-Date model aka the "President" with the ref. 18038, or 18039 for white gold, which featured some major changes to the Day-Date line of watches. The first of the major updates was the introduction of a sapphire crystal, but the biggest improvement was the introduction of the Cal. 3055 movement. This new and improved movement features a quick-set date function within the second position of the winding crown, landing this era with the nickname the "Single-Quick" Day-Date.

CASE & BRACELET
The thick 18K white gold case retains robust dimensions, showing very full and symmetrical lugs that exhibit minimal evidence of previous polishing and show honest signs of use throughout. The case retains its original "two-dot" white gold Rolex crown. The original Rolex 8386 18K white gold President bracelet retains 21 links that show minimal stretch and light wear, the bracelet will fit up to a 6 3/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original and beautifully aged silver dial features factory-set diamond markers and has achieved a charismatic warm patina accomplishing a unique vintage aesthetic to the watch. Apart from the gentle patina and aging no real damage is present on the dial. The tritium lume plots all remain perfectly intact with no degradation present and have taken on a subtle eggshell color. The orignial tritium hands match the dial perfectly with no degradation visible under UV light isnpeciton. The date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
