The Omega Speedmaster Professional is undoubtedly a beloved chronograph. Its rich history began with its involvement in automotive racing before transitioning to aviation and eventually becoming a crucial part of NASA's U.S. Space Program. The vintage Omega Speedmaster collection boasts a range of references, each with its own subtle differences that add to the overall individuality of each timepiece.

There is a tremendous amount of value in the transitional model Speedmasters of the 90s. These later-era pieces feature several subtle quality-of-life improvements to the design that add up to increase the overall robustness of the iconic chronograph, the most notable of which is the upgraded bracelet. Though these models aren’t without vintage charm despite their modern enchantments, as it is actually somewhat typical to find Speedmasters in this era with striking patinas to the lume, hence the “transitional” nomenclature. 

The Speedmaster Professional ref. 3570.50 with the workhorse Cal. 861 movement is clearly built to last. The Speedmaster looks great on the bracelet as well as a handcrafted leather strap. It is one of our favorite chronographs due to its timeless design and functionality. Its versatility to be paired with the most formal and the most casual of wardrobe also makes the Speedmaster a good choice for the first vintage timepiece and or a classic daily driver.
