Blancpain 18k YG Villeret Chronograph (Ref. 1185-1418-55) "Tiffany & Co." W/ Boxes & Tiffany Letter
In 1983, after Blancpain's brush with death caused by the quartz crisis, the company name was purchased by Jean-Claude Biver – TAG Heuer's current CEO and the president of Louis Vuitton's watchmaking division – and Jacques Piguet, the son of Fréderic Piguet and the director of Piguet's movement manufacturer. This business move, along with the company's aim to revive mechanical watchmaking after the crisis, was the beginning of the Blancpain revival. Blancpain decided to re-introduce some of their famed complications instead of reducing costs to try and save the company. Blancpain's most famous of the 'savior' collection being the Villeret Complete Calendar watch, which has been a company staple and best seller for nearly 40 years.
The Villeret collection is their "most classical collection", according to Blancpain. The collection was created to echo the brand's initial aesthetic, with sleek lines, a clean and elegant dial, and an iconic double stepped case. Named after the Swiss village where Blancpain was born, the Villeret collection makes for a stunning array of modern dress watch classics.
Since Blancpain's revival, the Villeret Collection has hosted many designs, dial variants, and complications. At Craft + Tailored, we are always excited to offer classic watches with co-signed dials, which is one reason we're thrilled to offer this stunning, clean, triple sub-dial Villeret with a Tiffany stamp. Complete with the original boxes and a handwritten note from Tiffany & Co.
