Jaeger-LeCoultre

1970s Jaeger-LeCoultre Club (Ref. E200205)

Antoine LeCoultre created the LeCoultre brand in 1833 with the intent of crafting movement blanks (or unfinished movements) for some of Switzerland's most prestigious watchmaking houses, including Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. Nearly a hundred years later, in 1937, LeCoultre merged with the Jaeger brand to form Jaeger-LeCoultre and become the brand we know and love today.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre ref. E200205 is part of the Club line, a collection the brand introduced as an entry-level offering (though, let’s be honest - “entry-level” for a brand like Jaeger-LeCoultre is still a pretty fantastic piece). There were a few different styles produced under the Club moniker, some more unique than others, like this rounded-off rectangular case shape, which screams mid-century style. Add to that an original Gay Freres stainless steel bracelet and the fantastic Cal. 1900/01 automatic movement, and you’ve got a really great way to start a love affair with one of the best watch brands on the planet.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent stainless steel case has been gently polished in the past but displays very minimal signs of use. The case retains its original Jaeger-LeCoultre signed crown. The screw-down case back is clean with all original engravings still intact and legible. The watch comes on its original JLC Gay Freres bracelet that's stamped 2/72 and will fit up to a 7-inch wrist.

DIAL & HANDS

The original dial has aged to achieve a tropical-esque aesthetic. It features chunky silver markers and original, sword-shaped silver hands that are in fantastic condition. The lume on the dial and hands matches and has taken on a dark patina.

ACCESSORIES

None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
