IWC Porsche Design Titan Chronograph (Ref. 3700) "Titanium"
The first titanium chronograph ever created comes with some surprise as it was produced as a joint effort between IWC and Porsche Design. The Titan ref. 3700 was a marvel of engineering when it was produced in the early 1980s, as titanium was still seen as exotic metal due to the cost of the material and its difficulty to work with, however, IWC came up with a way to manipulate the metal into a sleek wristwatch that represented the Porsche Design brand perfectly.
This ridiculously cool chronograph features integrated pump pushers that maintain the case's symmetry throughout the watch head and the integrated titanium bracelet is a feat of engineering to put it simply. The Titan saw several dial variants throughout its lifetime and only very early examples feature the “TITAN” text on the 6 o’clock side of the case.
The Porsche Design by IWC Titan was the first amongst a long list of titanium watches and was one of the best to do it in our opinion. The Titan is lightweight, stylish, and durable, all of the hallmarks of a perfect daily driver or weekend warrior wristwatch.

CASE & BRACELET
The titanium case has never been polished and retains its matte anti-reflective finishing and factory angles throughout. The original crystal shows some light wear around the edges and is in excellent overall condition. The case retains its original titanium crown. The case back displays some very minimal tool marks from previous services. The titanium IWC integrated bracelet is a work of art that shows a slight amount of wear. The bracelet retains 22 links that exhibit light stretch.
DIAL & HANDS
The matte black dial is in exceptional condition, showing almost no signs of age and no blemishes. The tritium lume plots have achieved a handsome golden patina and show no degradation. The original hands have aged slightly lighter than the dial, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand lume shows some light cracking and remains stable, the hour hand is fully intact.
