*Unpolished* 1967 Rolex Day-Date 18K RG (Ref. 1803) Silver Guilloche Dial

Introducing one of the most special, strikingly beautiful, and well-preserved Rolex Day-Dates we’ve had the pleasure of offering, this 1967 Rolex ref. 1803 cast in 18K rose gold featuring an extremely uncommon and truly beautiful silver guilloche dial.

Rose gold was the least used metal by Rolex in the 60s and 70s, apart from platinum. It’s generally believed that Rolex only created rose gold timepieces as special orders, meaning they typically weren’t standard production watches for Rolex, making rose gold examples from this era some of the most sought-after among collectors.

While it isn’t a specificity The Crown is particularly known for, being more commonplace for brands like Breguet or Jaeger-LeCoultre, guilloche dials are of the rarest and most desirable dial variations for Rolex dress models. And even though it wasn’t the brand’s specialty, the execution of these guilloche dials was meticulous, resulting in the perfect dial for the Rolex Day-Date. Similarly to dials encrusted with diamonds, though more impressively, the engraved patterns and details that comprise a guilloche dial play with light to a miraculous effect, creating an ever-changing aesthetic that encapsulates high-watchmaking and melts the hearts of watch enthusiasts.
