1970's Montdor Ressort Incassable Chronograph

This 1970's Montdor Ressort Chronograph is a rare and unique timepiece. The manual wound Landeron Cal. 140 movement found in this piece is quite unique as well.

The Landeron company was founded in 1873 by Charles Alfred Hahn and his brother Aim Auguste. In 1924 Landeron acquired Anatole Breitling's 'Monbrillant' patents and started producing chronograph movements using these patents. Landeron built many different column wheel chronograph movements during the next 30 years, the most being of the 'classical' bi-compax layout. Landeron's most important contribution to the history of the chronograph wristwatch was the invention and introduction of the cam-operated chronograph on the eve of World War II. Their '47' sports operation by three pushers. Many watch producers satisfied this demand with many affordable chronographs of similar design - one of them being LeJour.

The dial is matte black with white subdials is framed by a white tachymeter at the outer edge of the dial. The white sub dials over the matte black base color of the dial gives this specific timepiece a eye catching "Reverse Panda" look.  The applied trapezoidal stick markers are common to timepieces of the era and the the bottom of the dial is signed T Swiss Made T denoting the use of tritium lume on the dial and hands. One of the most eye-catching features is the oversized diamond shaped chrono hand. The text "Ressort Incassable" is printed on the dial in a striking red and a red star is centered under the text to further add to the uniqueness factor of this piece.
