1968 Rolex Submariner (Ref. 5513) "Meters First" W/ Guarantee Booklet
The Rolex Submariner Reference 5513 is the embodiment of the classic dive watch. The 5513 is simple yet sophisticated and rugged. The ref. 5513 was first introduced in 1962 and ceased production in late 1989. The ref. 5513 is a purpose-built dive watch that lacks the date function like other Rolex Submariner models.
The depth rating began appearing on Submariner dials in late 1955 and was standard on all models by 1956. Early depth ratings were printed with the rating meters first, followed by the number in feet. This continued until early 1970 when Rolex made the switch to a feet-first depth rating, reportedly to appeal to the expanding US market.

CASE & BRACELET
The stainless steel case is in strong overall condition with the factory chamfers still present on the lugs that remain thick and symmetrical in presence. The case displays signs of gentle polishing in the past and honest signs of use. The original Mk III "fat font" bezel insert exhibits light wear and remains deep black in color, the tritium pearl remains intact and matches the dial but does exhibit some cracking from wear. The case retains its original 7mm twin-lock crown which exhibits some wear. The era-correct Rolex 7206 Oyster-Rivet bracelet with 58 end pieces was sourced with the watch and dates to 1968, the bracelet retains 12 links that show minimal stretch and will fit up to a 7 3/4-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The beautifully preserved original matte black "Meter's First" dial exhibits some gentle aging with no apparent damage resulting in an awesome vintage aesthetic. The creamy-golden yellow tritium lume plots all remain intact with nominal degradation present in the 3, 4, & 5 o'clock lume plots under UV light inspection. The original hands have been professionally color-matched to coordinate with the lume patina of the dial.
ACCESSORIES
The watch comes with its original Rolex Guarantee booklet. The watch is keeping time, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
