1941 Omega Dress Watch (Ref. CK 2242) 'Cal. 30SCT2'

$ 1,450

The cal. 30T2 is a time-only manual wind movement that Omega created in 1939, and became a large benefactor for building Omega's early reputation of making accurate and quality timepieces. The cal. 30T2 is essentially a robust but simple base movement that is very versatile in its adaptability, in fact, variations of the cal. 30T2 was produced until 1963. This legendary movement wasn't only for civilian use either, as the British military issued a massive contract with Omega to produce chronometer-rated timepieces for their soldiers that all housed a modified cal. 30T2 movement.

As a modular base caliber, Omega was able to modify the cal. 30T2 to fit the specification needs for a myriad of different timepieces. One example of which is presented here, the ref. CK 2242, which features the cal. 30SCT2, a center second's variation of the modular movement (hence the SC in the caliber name), and at the time was a celebrated enhancement within watchmaking.

CASE & BRACELET

The excellent case features broad, angled lugs which elevate the otherwise very classic design. The condition of the case is very well preserved, especially for the age of the watch, exhibiting minimal evidence of being previously polished with the factory angles fully present. The crown is an early replacement. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The original dial has achieved a beautiful vintage aesthetic and features applied Roman numerals, an outer minute track, and a 24-hour scale in the center dial. The dial exhibits some yellowing to the dial and honest elements of age, however, this is what gives the watch its unique charm, especially as there is no actual damage present. The original blued steel pontife style hands remain in perfect condition.

ACCESSORIES

None. The watch is keeping time, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be provided upon request.
