1950s Omega Seamaster Automatic (Ref. LL6287-1) Cal. 550 "Clamshell Dial"

The Speedmaster might be the watch that made Omega a household name (and took it to the moon), but the Seamaster has been around quite a bit longer and has its own incredible legacy worth talking about.

First released in 1948 in celebration of Omega’s centennial anniversary, the Seamaster became a worldwide success and was the brand’s top seller for a long time. Today, it’s the longest-running name in the Omega catalog and still holds a special place in plenty of collectors’ hearts.

With one of the most impressive and exciting dials we've seen on an Omega Seamaster, this gold-plated ref. LL6287-1 features a highly sought after but rarely seen champagne "clamshell" dial in incredible condition. It offers a unique twist on the classic Seamaster styling of the 1950s that adds a good amount of individual style, and is sure to spark conversation.

DIAL & HANDS

The vibrant and extravagant "clamshell" dial offers a truly unique aesthetic and is in incredibly clean condition, with practically no signs of wear or age. It features applied gilt Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock with stick markers filling in the rest of the hours. The lume pips atop each marker have aged to a rich caramel color with some minor degradation present in some of the plots when inspected under UV light. The original hands are in excellent condition with inlaid lume that matches the dial perfectly, under UV light inspection the minute hand does exhibit lume loss while the hour hand remains fully intact.
