1956 Tudor Oyster Prince 34 (Ref.7950) Tropical
This 1956 Tudor Oyster Prince 34 (Ref.7950) possesses that vibe of the mid 1950's we love so much. The early dials of the Tudor Ref 7950 had a silver outer minute track that was filled with a clear lacquer to achieve a glossy almost glassy like appearance that accompanies a sharp black center dial. This specific example has achieved a very rare and stunning orange tropical look around the silver outer minute track, and the center has started to turn from black to a caramel brown color as a result of being exposed to the U.V. from the sun. This process of aging or color change is what some refer to as a tropical dial.
The 7950 is a great watch in the early lineup of the Tudor range and if you are a fan of the TV show MadMen you may recognize this watch reference as it was worn by the character Roger Sterling in season five of Mad Men.
The dial and hands are in original untouched condition. The dial also possesses the early "Tudor Rose" which added to the over all vintage vibe. The turned bombe lugs that are not usually common to Rolex or Tudor timepieces set this apart from the other typical case offerings of the era, and the overall feel of the dial and the hands have a wonderful patina that set this specific piece apart from the usual 50's offerings. High grade 17 Jewel Swiss Tudor caliber 390 Movement is an automatic and is signed Tudor on the rotor.
Everything from the case, The alpha style hands, and the tropical orange & black dial combination are sure to set this atomic era Tudor apart from the rest!
