1959 Eterna-Matic KonTiki (Ref. 130T) Silver Dial
Many iconic timepieces have been closely associated with expeditions, especially in the tool watch category, from the highest mountain peaks to the deepest depths of the ocean, and even into outer space – the need for accurate timekeeping has always been a top priority.
In 1947, there was a trek by raft from South America to the Polynesian Islands to establish the heritage of the indigenous Polynesians. That trek was known as the KonTiki expedition, and its guide, Thor Heyerdahl, wore an Eterna on his wrist. In 1958, Eterna paid tribute to Thor and his incredible odyssey by using the KonTiki designation on the brand's most rugged watches.

CASE & BRACELET
The excellent, multi-beveled case is remarkably well-preserved, featuring all of its original factory dimensions and geometry with light wear present and no notable evidence of being polished in the past. The original crown is signed with the Eterna-Matic logo. The case back retains its original Kontiki raft motif and serial number in fully present and crisp condition. The watch comes supplied on its original Kontiki bracelet made by Gay Freres; the bracelet retains 23 links that show some stretch and will fit up to an 8-inch wrist.
DIAL & HANDS
The original satin silver dial is in exceptional, virtually perfect vintage condition, exhibiting no damage or notable elements of age. The radium lume plots all remain intact, with only nominal degradation present in the 6 o'clock plot, and have achieved a handsome golden patina. The original needlepoint dauphine hands are also in excellent condition, the radium lume has aged a shade lighter than the dial, and the only degradation present under UV light inspection is a small section of missing lume from the surface portion of the minute hand.
ACCESSORIES
None. The watch is running, but the service history is unknown. A movement service can be purchased upon request.
