Longines

Tropical 1959 Longines Conquest Calendar (Ref. 9004 10)

The Conquest line from Longines originated in 1954. The entire line was deeply illustrative of the popularity of classic mid-century design, which was echoed within Longines dress watch designs, specifically the Conquest. The handsome hallmarks of the Conquest made this collection a success, and the brand later branched out several other variations of this line. In 1956, the Conquest Calendar was released.

This gorgeous example exhibits astounding visual depth within the dial due to the curved, two-toned edges. This depth is accentuated further by the striking, galactic-like tropical patina that has developed in the center of the dial. While the fluted, Art Deco-inspired hour markers glisten and catch the light brilliantly.
