1959 Tudor Oyster Air-Tiger (Ref. 7957) Honeycomb Dial "Gold Cap"
Here we have something quite different than what we usually see wearing the Tudor title. The Oyster Air-Tiger, a mid-century gold-capped dress model imbued with seemingly every ounce of charm available the world round in 1959. Every line is considered, every angle sharp and expertly defined, each element designed to the last and designed to last.
|Material||SS/ "Gold Cap"|
|Bracelet||2pc Handmade Leather Strap|
The 34-millimeter gold capped case gracefully shows its years but any wear is totally and completely overshadowed by its stunning design. The long angled lugs fix to the case in a way that seems to hold the circular shape of the main case up and away, lifting it to your eyes. The watch features a screw-down Rolex signed crown and a personally engraved and touching screw-down case back covering the manually wound movement. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc leather strap.
The dial really cements the beauty of the Air-Tiger's design, an off-white waffle texture with gold triangle markers and alpha-style hands. The radium in the hands has aged to a beautiful cream color, matching the markers on the outside of the dial. The dial exhibits lume degradation in the radium markers from 7-9 o'clock but the base plots remain, retaining the dial's symmetry.
None. Watch is running and keeping time, previous service history is unknown.
