1960s Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Alarm (Ref. E855) 18k YG

$ 4,750

This LeCoultre Memovox ref. E855 is one of the most desirable alarm references produced from LeCoultre from the 1960s. The double-crown feature allows for winding and setting the time, as well as setting the alarm. The top crown sets the alarm complication of the timepiece. The alarm is crisp and noticeable which is a key feature of the cal. 825 automatic bumper movement.

The ref. E855 features an excellent 18k yellow gold 37.5mm case, which is oversized for the 1960s era of its creation. The case sits nicely on the wrist and has a classic and timeless appearance while remaining relevant by today's wristwatch sizing standards. This piece would make a great addition to an existing collection and be a great and classic timepiece as a stand-alone piece!

CASE & BRACELET

The beautiful 18k yellow gold case appears to have been very lightly polished in the past and retains full and even lugs that show light signs of use. The gold twin crowns are early replacements. The case back retains all of its factory markings and shows light signs of use. The watch comes supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The lovely dial has taken on a beautiful warm patina and shows light signs of appropriate age. The tritium lume plots have aged to a dark coloration, under U.V. light inspection there is light degradation in some of the plots. The original tritium hands have aged lighter than the dial, under U.V light inspection the hour hand no longer retains lume and the minute hand remains fully intact.
