1960s Movado Super Sub Sea (Ref. 206-705-502) W/ Box

Movado released water-resistant wristwatches in the mid-1930s, by the early 1960s Movado was producing dive watches to contend with the era's greater-known offerings from names like Rolex, Omega, Heuer & Tudor. The Super Sub Sea is one of the most desirable Movado dive watches to come from the brand. During this era, Movado and Zenith worked closely together to introduce innovative designs and advancement to the watch world.

The Movado Sub Sea Chronographs are the most sought after in the vintage Movado dive watch line-up, and this ref. 206-705-502 features the impressive 17 jewel Zenith 146-HP movement, which is also used in the Zenith Super Sub Sea Ref. A3736 as well as a variety of other chronographs from this era. This was the last manual wind movement caliber by Zenith-Movado before being superseded by the automatic El Primero movement.

CASE & BRACELET

The wonderful cushion style case appears to have only been very lightly polished in the past and shows almost no signs of previous use. The pump- pushers and Movado signed crown all remain original to the watch. The case back shows light signs of use and retains its original “Super Sub Sea” text in excellent condition. The watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap

DIAL & HANDS

The matte black “reverse panda” dial is in near perfect condition, showing no blemishes or imperfections. The vivid orange inner tachymetre bezel is also in flawless condition. The tritium inlaid markers have aged to a charming dark yellow coloration, the 10 o’clock marker has aged slightly darker, under U.V. light inspection none of the markers show degradation. The eye-catching hands all remain original to the watch and match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the hand exhibit no degradation.

ACCESSORIES 

The watch comes with its original coffin-case box. The watch is keeping time and is in perfect working condition, previous service history is unknown.
