Seiko 62MAS advertisement

Although they may not be the most luxurious or difficult to obtain, Seiko watches are loved by collectors both at the entry level and by the most decerning collector. There is a specific sense of satisfaction that comes from wearing a Seiko that you are a part of a long lineage of excellent watchmaking and extreme attention to detail in a resilient fashion across the range of Seiko timepieces.

This Seiko Ref. 6217-8000, more commonly known as the 62MAS, is the first execution of a dive watch produced under the Seiko name and is absolutely remarkable. The 62MAS first came into the market in 1965 and was an essential building block for all Seiko divers since and the brand as a whole. The 6217 in-house movement features a non-hacking movement with quickset date, and the no crown guards case embodies everything we love about early dive watches.

The watch will come on a vintage tropic strap of the correct era which only shows mild use.

The gorgeous grey sunburst dial is in stunning vintage condition. The original tritium lume plots have taken on a charming green patina and exhibit no lume degradation under U.V. light inspection. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand shows very minimal and minor cracking in the lume, the hour and sweep seconds hand are fully intact.
