1966 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1603) Silver "Doorstop" Dial W/ Guarantee Paper
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee-shirt.
Worn with ease in any setting, the Datejust is a classic for a reason. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its understated sophistication and this example is no exception, featuring a beautiful and early silver dial with "doorstop" style markers.
|2pc Handmade Leather Strap
The very strong case appears to have only been very lightly polished once in the past, as the thick lugs are very close to factory proportions. The stainless steel engine turned bezel remain in sharp unpolished condition with very little signs of use. The inside of the case back is stamped III.66 and the watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.
The silver sunburst dial with "doorstop" 6 and 9 o'clock markers is absolutely gorgeous. The markers are flawless, showing no corrosion whatsoever. The tritium lume plots have aged to a creamy yellow coloration and remain full and round, without degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and exhibit no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The metallic date wheel is era correct with open 6's and 9's.
The watch comes with its original Rolex guarantee papers. The watch is keeping time and functioning perfectly, previous service history is unknown.
