1967 Rolex Explorer I (Ref. 1016) "Tritium Service Dial"
The Rolex Explorer I references bridge the gap between a dress watch and a sports watch as they possess a smooth bezel, the lack of crown guards, and the rotating bezels more commonly found on the sports models of watches offered by Rolex. But with that being said the Rolex explorer references possess highly visible block indices and luminescent numerals at the 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock positions with a submariner style triangle at the 12 o'clock position. The Rolex Submariner style hands more commonly found on the sports line of Rolex watches also add to the Rolex explorer's unique feel and appearance.

The wonderful case has been lightly polished in the past and retains full and even lugs that do show some signs of use. The smooth stainless steel bezel is in excellent condition, only showing light signs of use. The case back shows some watchmaker tool marks on its outer edges. The watch will come supplied on a 2pc handmade leather strap.
The early tritium service dial is both beautiful and clean. The tritium lume plots have aged to an excellent yellow coloration and show no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The early service tritium hands match the dial nicely and show no lume loss or degradation under U.V. light inspection.
