1969 Rolex Red Submariner (Ref. 1680) "Luminova Service Dial"
The Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1969, the Ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. Ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a Ref. 1680 which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering which was produced by Rolex from 1969-1975.
The "SWISS only" luminova service dial features non-serifed text and vibrant red "Submariner" text with slightly open 6's in the depth rating.
This specific Red Submariner is in very good overall condition piece would make a versatile daily driver in a casual setting or would look great paired with a suit. The Ref. 1680 is an all-around wonderful sports watch, and would make a nice addition to an existing collection, or would be a unique stand-alone vintage piece.

The previously polished case retains even lugs, showing little to no wear. The black service insert shows some wear, with the original luminova pearl intact. The case retains its original "no dot, no line" Rolex signed twin lock crown. The case back is stamped III.69.
The gorgeous "SWISS only" matte black service dial is in flawless condition, the red "Submariner" text is highly visible and vibrant. The luminova lume plots remain in perfect condition showing no degradation or discoloration. The service luminova hands match the dial perfectly and remain in perfect untouched condition. The original silver date wheel is era correct with open 6's and 9's
