1970 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1601) Silver Linen Non-Luminous Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee-shirt.
This ref. 1601 from 1970 would make a great start for a new vintage collector or be a great addition to an expanding collection. We love the early Rolex Datejust for its simplicity and its classic sophistication. Perfectly worn in any setting from formal to casual. The silver "Linen" dial is uncommon and very much desirable among the vintage Rolex collector community as it is striking and gets its nickname from the texture of the dial pattern which is reminiscent of linen cloth.

The excellent case retains very symmetrical and thick lugs that retain original finishing and show light signs of use. The white gold fluted bezel shows honest signs of use but remains crisp and in overall great condition. The inside of the case back is stamped 1600 which is original and common as case backs in this era were interchangeable from the Rolex factory. The watch comes supplied on a Rolex rolled-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end pieces that retains 20 links showing normal stretch for the style and age of the bracelet. The bracelet will fit up to a 7 1/2 inch wrist.
The beautiful non-luminous silver linen dial offers depth, simplicity, and sophistication. The dial on this example displays minimal age, remaining in superb overall condition. The original hands retain all of the original onyx enamel fillings that coordinate perfectly with the onyx enamel markers on the dial. The metallic date wheel is original with open 6's and 9's.
None. The watch was recently serviced and is keeping time perfectly, backed by a 1-year warranty on accurate timekeeping.
