1970 Rolex Red Submariner (Ref. 1680) Mk. V Dial
The Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1969, the Ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. Ref. 5512 and 5513). The Infamous Red Submariner is also a Ref. 1680 which had the word "Submariner" in red lettering which was produced by Rolex from 1969-1975.
The Mark V dial differentiates itself with the following which can be seen in the text located above the 6 o'clock – starting with a serial number that falls in the correct range for this type of dial. Additionally, the dial features the Rolex crown with the correct elongated base and the almost-closed 6's in the depth rating, the core characteristics of an original Mark V dial.

CASE & BRACELET
The previously polished case is in good overall condition, showing minimal wear. The "fat-font" bezel insert is missing its pearl, shows light wear and has taken on a nice light fade. The Rolex 93150 bracelet with 580 end pieces remains unpolished with very little stretch from use.
DIAL & HANDS
The original Mk. V dial is in wonderful vintage condition. The lume plots have aged to a desirable yellow coloration, showing no degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands have aged slightly lighter than the dial, under U.V. light inspection the hour and sweep-seconds hand show as fully intact, the minute hand lume exhibits minor cracking. The metallic date wheel is era correct with open 6's and 9's.
