1971 Rolex Two-Tone Datejust (Ref. 1601) Silver "Aladdin" Co-Branded Dial
The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. Launched in 1945, it has remained a timeless classic, instantly recognizable as an item of advanced quality and functional design. The Datejust’s exemplary style makes it an extremely versatile choice, worn just as easily with a suit as with jeans and a t-shirt. The Datejust would make a wonderful starting point for a new vintage collector
The dial of this Rolex Datejust is co-branded with Aladdin Industries, Inc., a company best known for producing licensed, and now very collectible, lunch boxes and thermoses featuring pop culture characters ranging from Disney, cartoons and comic books, 'The Beatles', and 'The Dukes of Hazard' to name a few. Aladdin Industries was formed as a subsidiary company of the Mantle Lamp Company in 1914 to originally produce special lamps marketed under the "Aladdin" name, but was later pivoted in 1917 to produce thermal cookware for the US Military which introduced the company to a new sector of commerce. Though Aladdin Industries continued to evolve through the 20th century, it wouldn't be until the 1950 that we see the first character depicted on a lunch box, which was Hopalong Cassidy a fictional cowboy. Aladdin Industries was eventually dismantled in the year 2002, sold its product lines, and the company itself sold as well, today Aladdin Industries is owned by Pacific Market International.
Whether you're nostalgic, an avid collector of vintage lunch boxes, or love rare and unique watches, this 1971 Rolex Datejust is a beautiful example of the common lens collectors share and would make for an always relevant and wearable option no matter the collection.

The strong case features extremely thick and symmetrical lugs, with gentle signs of polishing and light signs of use present. The 14k yellow gold fluted bezel remains impressively crisp with minimal signs of use visible. The original Rolex "USA" oval-link two-tone Jubilee bracelet retains 20 links that show stretch that is expected for the style and age of the bracelet. The bracelet will fit up to a 7 1/2-inch wrist.
The original silver sunburst "pie pan" dial is cobranded with the Aladdin Industries logo at 6 o'clock and is in remarkably well preserved and virtually flawless condition, showing no damage or notable age. The original yellow gold tritium hands match the dial perfectly with no visible under UV light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
