*Unpolished* 1970s Elgin Chronograph (Ref. 7452) 'Valjoux Cal. 7736' W/ Box

$ 2,750

The story of Elgin National Watch Company begins in 1864 in Elgin, Illinois, where it quickly became one of America’s most prolific watchmakers, producing everything from refined wristwatches to critical military instruments through World War II. Following the end of U.S. manufacturing in 1968, the Elgin name transitioned into new ownership, giving way to a lesser-known but increasingly appreciated era of Swiss-made production, watches that often combined proven movements with bold, period-correct design.

This 1970s Elgin Chronograph Ref. 7452 is a standout from that chapter, featuring a tonneau-style case reminiscent of the Heuer Camaro and a striking matte white “panda” dial with black sub-dials and subtle red accents. Powered by the reliable Valjoux Caliber 7736, it offers both mechanical substance and vintage charm. Preserved in exceptional condition, this example remains a true time capsule, complete with its original presentation box and original leather strap, making it a compelling and well-rounded addition to any collection.
