1970's Heuer Calculator Ref. 110.633
The Heuer, "Calculator, Automatic Chronograph," Ref. 110.633. oversized, tonneau-shaped, water-resistant, self- winding stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, date, bezel with a slide rule.
Standing at a beefy 45mm in diameter with a 15.5mm thick case, there’s no forgetting the Heuer calculator is on your wrist. The two-register subdial design and the orange hands are very recognizable for ’70s Heuers. The Heuer Calculator was created for the individual who needed a slide rule on their wrist for performing mathematical calculations on the fly. The outer bezel ring rotates and the inner ring stays fixed allowing for accurate and precise calculations. The slide rule is designed to measure distance and also convert weight and volume from the imperial to the metric system and vice versa. The Heuer Calculator was available with Heuer’s own Calibre 12 and Calibre 15 Automatic movements as well as a single manual-wind Valjoux option, the watch we are featuring here at C+T is a Heuer Cal 12 self-winding movement which leverages a micro-rotor for its automatic and self-winding capability
In true Autavia form the crown is located at the 9 o'clock position instead of the 3 o'clock position to create comfortability when wearing the watch so the crown doesn't rub on the top side of the wearer's wrist.
Today, The Heuer Calculator Ref. 110.633 stands out as a rare and unusual model at a more approachable price point than other vintage Heuer models that make this interesting timepiece worthy of collecting and some time on the wrist!
