1970s Marcel Et Cie Chronograph Valjoux Cal. 7733 "Champion Spark Plug"

$ 2,800

The '60s and '70s were a boom time for watches, which resulted in all kinds of brands coming out of the woodwork to take a piece of the action and offer something uniquely cool. Many of these brands no longer exist, which leaves us with a glut of very cool pieces that we know little about. Like this charming Valjoux-movement based chronograph that is co-branded with the 'Champion Spark Plug' logo, a beautiful dual-register chronograph with a matte black dial and a little "if you know, you know" flair. Plus, it'll give you something to nerd out about as you dig through the depths of the internet looking for all the info you can find.

CASE & BRACELET

The well-preserved case has been previously polished and retains full and symmetrical lugs that show minimal signs of use. The unsigned crown and small-style pump pushers are believed to be original to the watch. The case back retains all of its factory finishing and markings. The era-correct JB Champion stainless steel bracelet was sourced with the watch and will fit up to an 8-inch wrist with light stretch present.

DIAL & HANDS

The original matte black two-register chronograph dial features the 'Champion Spark Plug' globe logo at the 6 o'clock position and is exceptionally well-preserved, exhibiting some minor marks and elements of age with no notable damage present. The tritium lume plots all remain present and mostly feature a dark grey patina with only gentle degradation present in some of the plots when inspected under UV light. The original tritium hands match the dial and exhibit no degradation under UV light inspection.

ACCESSORIES
