1971 Rolex Datejust (Ref. 1603) Blue Mosaic Dial

The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and most beloved Rolex watches ever made, even though the Datejust was launched in 1945 it has remained a timeless classic and is instantly recognizable as an item of refined quality and functional design. The Datejust can be worn just as easily with a suit as it can be with jeans and a tee shirt. The Datejust would make a great start for a new vintage collector, or be a great addition to an expanding collection.

The textured dials, otherwise known as "mosaic" dials have been a consistent favorite for collectors, especially when housed in a Datejust as they were more commonly seen in Rolex 34mm models. Mosiac dials were produced in a variety of colors ranging from, silver, grey, blue, taupe, and champagne. All of which provide an artistic depth to the wearer's wrist while maintaining the understated sophistication of the Rolex Datejust.

DIAL & HANDS

The elegant and beautiful blue mosaic "pie-pan" dial is simply a work of art, offering a truly unique look with a ton of depth. The dial is very well-preserved as well, showing only gentle aging at the dial edges mainly at the bottom of the dial. The tritium lume plots have all taken on a lovely yellow patina and show no notable degradation when inspected under U.V. light. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly, under U.V. light inspection the minute hand shows some lume loss and remains stable, the hour hand exhibits no degradation. The metallic date wheel is original with open 6's and 9's.
